Blocker Stings Choir

Welcome to the Blocker Middle School Choral Department, home of the Singing Stings! We are excited to welcome our award-winning students to a safe and enjoyable environment in which all students can grow as musicians and singers. Our students will focus on music reading and performance, as well as an emphasis on teamwork and working together to reach a common goal. The self-discipline and self-esteem inspired by this environment will help students to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Students will be taught the basics of musical sight-reading, as well as correct singing and performance technique. We will cover a variety of musical literature spanning different time periods, cultures, and genres and will demonstrate musical knowledge and growth through performance and competition.

Our choral department is made up of four performing choirs. All tenor-bass voices are placed in Cambiare, while the treble voices are split between Bella Voce (varsity choir) and Nova Canto ensembles. All students also have the opportunity to audition for Soundwaves, our Show Choir, but will be required to enroll in an additional choir ensemble or a BMS dance class. 

The Blocker Choir program is directed by Glydel Obate.
